Club Committees
Garden club members are usually involved with one or more committees.
BEAUTIFICATION – assists in beautification projects approved by the Board and accepted by the Club including maintaining the gardens at the historic Warner House.
FUNDRAISING – determines and coordinates activities to fund Club programs, provide grants and scholarships, and support community projects. (Every member of the Club is expected to participate in the fundraising events themselves.)
GRANTS - coordinates the committee to oversee the applications for and disbursement of grant funds for individual andcommunity projects that fit with the club’s mission statement.
HANDBOOK - coordinates the committee to annually review, revise and compile the Handbook.
HORTICULTURE - the chair presents a horticultural subject at each meeting or in the newsletter or selects volunteers to do the same. Members organize the annual club Plant Swap and organize any conservation projects approved by the Board and accepted by the Club.
HOSPITALITY - the chair names the host co-chairs for each month and offers guidance as to their responsibilities.
MEMBERSHIP - members take turns greeting members and taking attendance at monthly meetings. They ensure that newer members are made welcome, are introduced to others, and given help with any questions they may have.
PROGRAMS - coordinates the committee to research program ideas and set in place the programs for September through May.
PUBLIC RELATIONS – posts notice of meetings and activities to social media. Notifies local media of major events. Responds to inquires from the public.
SCHOLARSHIPS - coordinates the committee to oversee the applications for and selection of scholarship funds. Committee is made up of two representatives from the Garden Club, two from the Urban Forestry Center and one from the community.
