The mission of the Portsmouth Garden Club is to promote all phases of gardening, to practice and encourage the conservation of our natural resources, to foster educational goals and to initiate projects which provide cooperative efforts to increase and protect the beauty and history of the Portsmouth area.
Meetings
Meetings are held at noon on the third Wednesday of the month, October through May, at the Urban Forestry Center Barn, 45 Elwyn Road, Portsmouth NH. A light lunch is served by our members, followed by the meeting. At 1:30, an interesting program is scheduled. Field trips are scheduled for June, July and August. September and December meetings are held at a local restaurant.
From Interstate 95 Northbound/Southbound: take Exit #5 to the Portsmouth Traffic Circle. From the Circle, take Route 1 Bypass South. This will merge into Route 1 South. Proceed about 2 miles thru a series of five lights. At the next set of lights you should be in the left turn only lane (Market Basket will be on your right). Turn left onto Elwyn Road. Take the first left turn (approximately 500 feet) into the Urban Forestry Center road to the parking lot.
From Route 4: take Route 4 to the Spaulding Turnpike, across the General Sullivan Bridge, and past Pease International Tradeport. Move into the far left lane to the Portsmouth Traffic Circle. From the Circle follow the above directions.

Sincere thanks go out to all Festival of Trees exhibitors, volunteers and visitors. Your time, energy and enthusiasm are what make our Festival so special and successful.
The vitality and cooperation of so many enables our club to continue programs and beautification projects throughout the City of Portsmouth and beyond. Our Festival of Trees Scholarship Fund assists students attending New Hampshire colleges and universities. This year The Festival of Trees Grant Program gave financial aid for projects to create special gardens and give attention to environmental and conservation concerns.
The Urban Forestry Center, where the Festival is held, was a bequest to the State of New Hampshire by John Elwyn Stone in 1976 and is administered by the Department of Resources & Economic Development, Division of Forests and Lands. The purpose of the Center is to increase awareness of the importance of natural resources. It is one of the largest open spaces preserved in the Seacoast community. Our trails are open 365 days of the year from dawn to dusk.
Our Festival has been a very special event in this community since 1983. Thank you again for helping us to make it live on.
